6 Ways to Get on a Brand’s Radar
Share

So, you want to work with brands — not just land a one-off freebie or random affiliate link, but actually build relationships with brands that value you?

You don’t need a million followers, a ring light, or an agent to start working with brands.

You need to show up as yourself — a trusted voice, a thoughtful mom creator, and someone who’s already doing what brands dream of: authentically talking about the things you love.

Here’s how to start.

1. Start With What You Use and Love

The #1 way to get on a brand’s radar?

Start posting organically about the products you already use — especially the lesser-known or niche brands that you genuinely adore.

You love a local skincare line? A boutique food brand? A kid's product from a small startup that changed your routine? Perfect.

My opinion? Don’t waste your content creating ads for Nike or Sephora — those brands already have hundreds of creators begging to tag them. But that skin cream from the mom-run business in Oregon? That brand will notice you.

Pro tip: Tag the brand, share your honest thoughts, and let your genuine enthusiasm show.

This builds trust with your audience — and with the brand.

2. Turn Your Problems Into Content (and Brand Opportunities)

Ask yourself: “What challenges am I facing right now as a mom, woman, homeowner, or human?”

Then, find products or services that help you solve them — and create content documenting that process.

Example:
You're having trouble getting a full eight hours of sleep and trying five different products to achieve a more restful night?

Create a “8 Hours of Sleep Toolkit” post or video series. Share what worked and what didn’t. Tag those brands.

The content becomes real, relatable, and useful. And it positions you as someone brands want to partner with — not just because you have reach, but because you have relevance.

3. Get Hyper-Niched (Seriously, the More Specific the Better)

You’re a mom in Oklahoma who rides horses and is renovating your farmhouse?

That might sound oddly specific… but to the right brand, you’re gold.

Brands are actively searching for creators who speak to their exact audience. And in today’s world, micro and nano influencers often outperform bigger names because their content is more relatable and niche.

So don’t water down who you are. Double down on it.
There’s a brand out there looking for you.

4. Hunt for Hidden Gems

There are thousands of incredible brands out there that need content and want creators — but don’t show up in your Instagram feed.

Here’s how to find them:

  • Browse Faire (a wholesale site with tons of indie brands)

  • Walk the aisles of retailers like Target or Sephora, but focus on up-and-coming brands you’ve never heard of

  • Click “similar accounts” under brands you love on Instagram

  • Search Etsy or Amazon for brands with small but mighty followings (i.e., good reviews)

These brands are more likely to notice your content, respond to your DMs, and welcome a genuine partnership.

5. Use Creator Platforms (But Be Strategic)

If you want to get on a brand’s radar quickly, try joining creator marketplaces like: Trend.io, Insense, Billo, JoinBrands, etc. I’ve created a list of these platforms and many, many more that you can download here.

These platforms connect you directly with brands looking for creators — especially moms — to create user-generated content, testimonials, or short-form videos. Bonus: most don’t require a huge following or any following at all.

Just be sure to choose collaborations that align with your voice and values.

6. Engage First, Pitch Later

Before you pitch a brand or ask to collaborate, engage with them.
Comment on their posts. Share their content. Reply to their Stories.

Become a familiar face. Show up with curiosity and consistency — not desperation.
Then, when you do reach out with an idea or introduction, you’re not just another cold pitch. You’re someone they already feel connected to.

Final Thought: You Don’t Need a Big Audience. You Need a Real One.

The future of creator marketing is all about trust, connection, and community — not follower count. And guess what? That’s something moms naturally excel at.

So if you're ready to connect with brands, don’t start with the question: “Who will pay me?”
Start with:
👉 What do I love?
👉 What do I use?
👉 What do I solve?

Then create from that place. The right brands will follow.
