How I Batch a Week of Content in 2 Hours (With Kids at Home)
Time and consistency are the top struggles for mom creators. Here’s a simple system that works — even if your brain is tired, your hands are full, and you’re not a natural batcher.
Hey mama!
If you’ve ever said, “I want to be consistent, I just don’t have the time,” you’re not alone. It was the #1 challenge moms shared in our recent community survey.
And I get it. Between snack plates, school drop-offs, work calls, and one million tabs open in your brain... content can feel like the first thing to go.
But here’s the truth:
You don’t need 8 hours and a content calendar the size of a whiteboard.
You just need a realistic system that fits your season of life.
So I want to show you how I batch a week’s worth of content in 2 hours — even with kids at home, even with a busy brain, and even when I’m not “in the mood.”
First, What Do I Really Mean by “Batch”?
Batching doesn’t mean having 20 Reels filmed or a month’s worth of posts scheduled.
It means making some creative decisions ahead of time so you’re not starting from scratch every day.
In this system, you’ll walk away with:
✅ 3–5 post ideas you’re actually excited to share
✅ 1–2 caption or talking point outlines
✅ 1 block of time to create content
✅ 1 place to store it all so you can post without overthinking
Step 1: Find Your Power Hour
This is the most overlooked part of batching: Know when your brain works best.
You don’t have to be a “morning person,” but it helps to know your creative sweet spot. For me? It’s early morning. I can knock things out with total clarity.
But if I try batching at 3pm — my afternoon slump? It’s a guaranteed flop.
Tip: Figure out your peak time. Protect it like a nap schedule.
Step 2: Let Your Brain Roam (Daily)
Your brain needs to breathe to be creative.
Give yourself at least 30 minutes a day of no-screen time where your thoughts can wander. It doesn’t have to be alone time — you can be with your kids — just not consuming.
Too much input = creative block.
I often scribble little thoughts on Post-its like:
“What happened to me recently that’s interesting?”
“What lesson did I learn the hard way?”
“What’s a moment I’d want to remember?”
These roam-thoughts become your best content starters.
Step 3: Capture + Categorize with a Brain Dump
I keep a running list in my Notes app — divided into 3 simple pillars:
Me personally – stories, day-in-the-life, motherhood moments
Sharing products – favorite finds, affiliate links, brand love
Promoting work – offers, services, brand collabs, education
That’s it.
No overthinking. Just drop your raw ideas here throughout the week.
Then, when batching time comes, you’re never starting from zero.
Step 4: Pick 3–5 “Starters” and Add a Hook
Take your favorite brain dump ideas and add a quick hook to each. Think:
“Nobody talks about how hard this part is…”
“Here’s what I’d do differently if I was starting over…”
“This shift helped me stay consistent with no time.”
You’re not writing a full post — just shaping the first line that makes someone want to stop scrolling.
Step 5: Match Format to Your Energy (Then Multiply It)
Instead of forcing one style, match your format to your mood:
Feeling calm? Write a static post or carousel.
Got a burst? Record a quick talking-head video.
Brain too full? Voice memo your thoughts while walking.
And here’s the batching unlock:
One idea = three formats.
Say you’re reintroducing yourself on social, take that idea and:
Record a talking head video
Take a photo with text overlay
Film a video with trending audio and captions
Pro tip: Anytime you film a video, take a quick photo too. And vice versa. Efficiency is your bestie.
Step 6: Drop Everything Into a “Ready to Post” Folder
I use a folder in Google Drive called READY TO POST.
Each week, I try to have:
2 videos
2 written posts
1 personal story or update
Some people use project management tools or apps like Repurpose.io — I like to keep it simple: get it off my brain and into one folder I can tap into when I’m ready to post.
Step 7: Repurpose Like a Pro
I usually edit my videos in TikTok, save them to my camera roll without the watermark, and then reuse them for Instagram Reels later.
This makes your content work harder for you, without creating from scratch each time.
And if you love tools, check out Repurpose.io — it’s like a distribution assistant in your back pocket.
The Real Win Isn’t Content. It’s Clarity.
This isn’t about making more stuff.
It’s about creating with intention — so you show up consistently without burning out.
Even just 2 hours a week can turn into a thriving creator presence when you’re strategic.
And just to keep it real: I still fail at this.
There are weeks I don’t batch a thing. Days I plan to film — and instead I’m dealing with a sick kiddo and a surprise half-day at school.
Motherhood is not consistent. It’s not predictable.
And that’s why the most important content strategy I can offer is this: learn how to forgive yourself.
I always say — the more you plan for a productive day, the more likely your kid will throw a curveball. It’s just the law of the universe. (Just kidding - kind of.)
So take a deep breath. You’re not behind. You’re building something beautiful in the middle of real life.
